Easy to install
Fiat 500 key covers can be a great way to update your keys. You can pick from a range of colors and styles to find the one that matches your personal preferences. Installing them yourself is in just ten minutes. All you need is a screwdriver, and some patience. The first step is to remove the old cover from your key. The original cover needs to be removed before the replacement cover can be fitted.
Once you have removed the old cover, use a flathead screwdriver to pry out the four main attachment clips on the passenger side of the fob assembly. These are marked in red on the image below. Also note the locating tab slots shown in yellow that require disengagement also.
Replace the battery with a #CR2032 coin cell battery. The "+" side of the battery should face the opening on the fob, and the "side that is "-" side should be facing the buttons made of rubber.
Reattach the passenger side mirror cover by aligning the tabs that locate it. After you've done this place the fob that's on the driver's side back into the vehicle and test it. Press the button at the front of the key. If everything works correctly your car will turn on the parking lights and your doors will lock automatically.

After removing the metal key, you'll be able to see a small silver round switch that has images of an unlocked and locked padlock on top of it. This is the battery switch for the key fob. The battery is easy to replace by turning the switch a quarter turn using a tiny screwdriver that has a flathead.
The key fob is equipped with a microchip in it that is used to communicate with the Body Control Module (BCM). When you insert your Fiat key, it presses the button on the ignition switch. This is used to remind you of the "key-inignition". The BCM will then be in a position to read the transponder that is in the key fob, and verify that it's a valid.
You can also choose to add the twin pack of sport design to give a unique, fun style to your key covers. These covers snap into place over your original cover and are available in Cream and Silver. The key cover will only work only if the original black cover is removed from your key fob.
